☘️ Pub Crawl, St. Patrick's Day, and Lunar Eclipse

March 13, 2025 in the Valley.

Lawless Brewing is part of an upcoming NoHo pub crawl.

Welcome to your weekly Valley update! Today is Thursday, March 13, 2025.

In this week’s NoHo Nick:

  • ☘️ St Patrick’s Day

  • 🍻 Pub Crawl

  • 🌕️ Lunar Eclipse

  • ⛰️ Local Hikes

Last week, I asked, “How many cars can turn left after a traffic light turns red?

Here’s what you said:

  • 9% of drivers think only one car should go. Very safe. Very kind.

  • 65% said two cars can go. I’m in this group. Therefore, this is the correct answer.

  • 21% said three cars can go. This is sketchy. But it’s allowed in certain situations on Lankershim and Sherman Way.

  • 5% said four cars can go. This is pure madness. Four cars? I see you out there. And I’m yelling at you from behind my steering wheel.

Here’s what’s happening this week:

🦠 Measles in LA County. An L.A. County resident tested positive for measles after traveling through LAX on March 5. Health officials warn that people at LAX Terminal B (March 5), a North Hollywood nail salon (March 7), and an El Monte grocery store (March 10) may have been exposed. Get vaccinated. (NBC4)

🌕 Total Lunar Eclipse on Thursday, March 13. The “Worm Moon” total lunar eclipse happens Thursday at 11:26 PM for one hour. No special glasses are needed. Watch the moon turn red as it passes through Earth’s shadow. (NPR)

🏀 Lakers Fan Wins $100k. Michael Ball of North Carolina sunk a shot from half-court for $100,000 during the Lakers-Knicks game. He’s the 16th winner since the contest began in 2006—the first since January 2024. (KTLA)

🌳 DOGE Budget Cuts Affect Tree Planting. Thousands of trees in low-income LA neighborhoods will go unplanted because of federal funding cuts under Elon Musk’s DOGE. The nonprofit North East Trees lost $2.5 million, forcing it to cancel plans for 2,000 new trees in Watts and unincorporated LA. (LAist)

🅿️ New Paid Parking in Downtown Burbank. 145 street spaces along San Fernando Blvd. now require $2 per hour from 8 AM to midnight, 7 days a week. There are still 5,500 free spaces in public lots and structures. All revenue will go toward maintaining and updating parking facilities. (City of Burbank)
