🎨 Watercolor Workshop with Pastries (Woodland Hills): Explore watercolor painting, learn techniques like color mixing, and create greeting cards to take home. No experience is needed. Painting supplies, coffee, tea, OJ, champagne, and pastries are included. $60. Saturday, January 25, at 11 AM.
💖 Community Walk (Location TBD): Join a ”Hot Girl Walk” community walk to support fire recovery. The walk encourages donations of gift cards and new clothes for fire victims. Donate a $25+ gift card and receive a free tote bag. Saturday, January 25, 9 AM to 11:30 AM.
🌓 Lankershim Lunar Block Party (North Hollywood): Celebrate the Year of the Snake on Lankershim Blvd with food trucks, arts and crafts, cultural performances, and over 80+ Asian makers selling handmade goods. Free. RSVP required. Saturday, January 25, from 12 PM to 4 PM.
🎾 Free Tennis (Sawtelle): Hit the tennis courts. Connect with neighbors at this tennis free play. It's open to everyone. Bring a racket, water, and extra tennis balls. Come to reset, reflect, and reconnect with your community. Free. Sunday, January 26, at 2 PM.
🎸 Valley United Benefit Concert (Van Nuys): Rock out for a cause at the Airtel Plaza Hotel. 80s and 90s cover band The Flux Capacitors are performing. Hosted by My Valley Pass. Live performances from other local songwriters and bands. Donations accepted (blankets, hygiene products, gift cards). $25. Sunday, January 26 at 2 PM.
🎥 Tarantino: Pulp Rock (Hollywood): Dive into Quentin Tarantino’s cinematic universe with a live concert in a boutique theater. It blends a rock show, immersive theater, and iconic storytelling. Reimagined soundtracks and unforgettable dialogue from Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and more. Approximately $100/person. January 21 to February 16, 2025.
🐉 Chinese New Year Fundraiser (North Hollywood): Celebrate the Chinese New Year at Risky Business, a secret cocktail bar. They’ll have kung fu movies, dim sum, and cocktails—all for a great cause. Proceeds support the Wildfire Recovery Fund. Wednesday, January 29.
💼 How to Do Business When the World Is on Fire (Virtual): Join an open, inclusive conversation for entrepreneurs, business owners, and creatives on navigating ethical business practices in challenging times. An “Entrepreneurs Anonymous” meetup. Hosted by OUR SPOT coffee shop in Long Beach. Free. Wednesday, January 29, 11 AM–12 PM.
✨ Burbank Chamber New Year Mixer (Burbank): Network, sip, and spin pottery at Claytivity Pottery Studio. Refreshments, pottery demos, and a chance to talk to other local business owners. $25. Thursday, January 30, 5:30–7:30 PM.

🎤 Podcast Live Chat: Normal Gossip + Sounds Like a Cult (Mid-Wilshire): Podcast hosts Kelsey McKinney (Normal Gossip) and Amanda Montell (Sounds Like a Cult) are together for a night of conversation at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre. Quirky and funny hosts. $46. Includes a copy of McKinney’s new book. Tuesday, February 18, at 7 PM.
🎭 Whose Line is it Anyway? (Live) (Thousand Oaks): Laugh out loud with the stars of the hit improv comedy show Whose Line is it Anyway? Hilarious songs and sketch comedy. With Greg Proops, Ryan Stiles, Jeff Davis, and Joel Murray. $75. February 20, 2025.

📚 Vroman’s Bookmark Contest (Pasadena): Calling all K-3rd and 4th-6th graders. Enter Vroman’s Bookstore’s Annual Bookmark Contest by designing a bookmark representing the theme of books and reading. The winning artists will receive a $50 gift card, 50 bookmarks for their class, and the chance to feature their designs in the store. The deadline is January 24, 2025.
❄️ Kidspace Museum Winter Fun (Pasadena): You and your kids can feel merry for winter for a few more days. The 4th annual Winter Frolic features trike rides through a giant gingerbread house, building ice forts, dressing a snowman family, and more! Plus, a “sock skating rink.” Until January 5, 2024.

🍿 Pub Movie Night Mondays (Van Nuys): Pair your pints with iconic films at MacLeod Ale Brewing Co every Monday! With matinee showings at 5 PM and second screenings at 8 PM. This week, they’re playing Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Casablanca. Buy a beer, get some popcorn, and enjoy classic movies. Free. Monday, December 30.
🚶 New Year’s Eve Hike (Griffith Park). Join the 5 AM Crew for their annual sunrise hike on New Year’s Eve. It’s a 6-mile roundtrip hike up to a beautiful sunrise and breathtaking view of LA from Griffith Park. Bring a flashlight, sweater, hiking boots, and water. Start the new year with dozens of new friends. Thursday, December 31 at 4:30 AM.
🌋 Lord of the Rings New Year’s Eve (Burbank): One fling to rule them all. Ring in the New Year with a LotR celebration featuring trivia, cocktails, and an extended edition watch party. Tickets include an open bar, themed drinks, a midnight champagne toast, and entry into the trivia contest. Hobbits and Elves are welcome. $65. December 31 at 7 PM.
🥂 Fancy New Year’s Eve Dinner Party (Burbank): Celebrate the start of 2025 in style at Palma Ristorante with oysters, steak, and pasta. 🐶 Dog Christmas Party (North Hollywood): Idle Hour hosts a “Howliday” party for puppies and people. It will feature festive treats for your furry friends, specialty holiday cocktails for humans, and photos with Santa for the dogs (and humans, too). Proceeds will support the Animal Rescue Mission. Saturday, December 14, from 1 PM to 3 PM.
