Here’s what’s happening:

🎒 Free preschool for all 4-year-olds. Transitional kindergarten (TK) became universally available this school year. Kids learn school routines, social-emotional skills, and early academics through play. There is no mandatory attendance, but districts are required to offer it. (LAist)

🤖 Waymo robotaxis hit the freeway. The driverless ride-hailing service now transports paid passengers on freeways when it's meaningfully faster, traveling at speeds of up to 65 mph. (CNBC)

🎸 Local Music Nights (Canoga Park): Performances from hometown musicians, plus food from Osborne Pizza Kitchen. Free. Saturdays, from 8 PM to 11 PM, at 818 Brewing.

🎲 Burbank Game Nights. A weekly board game night. Limited to 9 people at Matt’s apartment. Free. Fridays, at 7 PM.

🎨 Art Club (West Hills): Weekly creative sessions where the journey matters more than the finished product. Experiment with painting, drawing, sculpting, and collage in a supportive, judgment-free space. Materials are provided; no experience is needed. Bring your imagination. Free. Tuesdays, at 7 PM at Social Medium Makerspace.

🎹 Jazz Piano Night (Sherman Oaks): Live jazz piano on a rainy fall evening. Enjoy smooth jazz and flute tunes while sipping craft beer, wine, cider, mead, and harder seltzers with 10% off. Free (21+). Thursday, November 13, from 7 PM to 9 PM, at The Aftermath Bar & Lounge.

🛍️ Holiday Shopping Event (Burbank): Boys & Girls Club marketplace features 50+ local vendors selling crafts, jewelry, clothing, home décor, and collectibles. Proceeds benefit local youth programs. Free. Friday, November 14, from 3 PM to 9 PM, at the Boys & Girls Club of Burbank.

Saturday, November 15

🤠 San Fernando Valley Country Music Fest (Canoga Park): An all-ages country music showcase featuring Tomorrow's Anthem, The Hollywood Hillbillies, The What Four, Tar and Flowers, Six String Guillotine, and Tori Leppert. Plus, line dancing. Free. Friday, November 15, at 1 PM, at 818 Brewing.

🦃 Hope for the Homeless Thanksgiving Event (Chatsworth): Offering hot meals, clothing, and blessing bags for neighbors experiencing homelessness. They’re hoping to feed 200+ people. If you’d like to help, you can make a financial donation online or volunteer on the day. Free. Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 12 PM to 4 PM at Chatsworth United Methodist Church.

🎨 Paint a Crosswalk at Lanark Park (Canoga Park): Paint a community crosswalk and improve street safety. “If the city won't take action, we'll do it ourselves.” Free. Sunday, November 16, at 9 AM at Owensmouth & Strathern.

🥗 Dancing on the Farm (Panorama City): Vibrant farm day featuring DJs, dancing, plant-based food, and community connection. Beats2Beets Community Event. $15. Sunday, November 16, from 2 PM to 6 PM, at Cottonwood Urban Farm.

🥋 Women's Self-Defense Class (Reseda): Learn real-life skills and build confidence through hands-on self-defense training via the Fit and Fearless club. DM to reserve your spot. Free. Saturday, November 16, 11 AM at ProSport MMA Academy.

🎄 Tree Lighting Celebration (Burbank): Kick off the holidays with live entertainment, family activities, a visit from Santa, and the annual Christmas tree lighting. Free. Thursday, November 20, from 6 PM to 8 PM, at Burbank Town Center.

🍷 Burbank Winter Wine Walk (Burbank): Wine tastings, hundreds of local vendors, live DJ, and VIP lounge access with secret pours and catered plates. Free street fair. $50-100~ wine walk. Saturday, November 22, from 12 PM to 8 PM in Downtown Burbank.

🥾 Lake Balboa Walk & Picnic (Encino): The Valley Girl Hiking Club brings the community together for a scenic Lake Balboa loop, followed by a tamale picnic, with an important mission: raising funds for an SFV street vendor through Aetna Street Solidarity. 🏮 Fall Paper Lantern Decorating & Happy Hour (North Hollywood): Decorate ivory paper lanterns using watercolors, paint, markers, tissue paper, and embroidery while you sip a cider or beer.
