Let’s talk →

It’s that time of year, again.

My car’s thermometer said 100°F when I turned it on the other day.

Which means I’m frantically texting old acquaintances who have swimming pools to see if they “want to catch up soon!”

🗣️ Community shoutout: Shoutout to Emily A., who won a $25 gift card to Moby’s Coffee and Tea (North Hollywood) from last week’s newsletter.

Ed Begley Jr. and Hayden Begley will star in PROOF, written by David Auburn and directed by Stuart Rogers, at the El Portal Theatre.

In PROOF, Catherine (Hayden Begley) has inherited her father’s (Ed Begley Jr.) mathematical brilliance. But she fears that she might also share his debilitating mental illness.

PROOF won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

All proceeds from these performances will benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation.

$50–$100. Thursday, July 23 through Sunday, July 26 at the El Portal Theatre (5269 Lankershim Blvd.). Get tickets.

❓️ What’s the longest continuous road contained entirely in the San Fernando Valley?

Last week’s question: Which highway that runs through the San Fernando Valley is celebrating its 100th birthday this year?

Answer: U.S. 101 runs along the coastline through California, Oregon, and Washington. It was established on November 11, 1926, and connected multiple existing highways and routes. However, California didn’t add its first part of the 101 until 1928.
